ABC Beginners Flashcards ~ Giveaway!

Have you seen this great new product? Kate Hadfield recently released the ABC Beginners Flashcards printable, which she developed with Jen Strange. See Jen's post for even more details. When I first saw Jen Strange post about the ABC Beginners set, I knew it would be perfect for my little guy! He's 3 1/2 now, but since a preschool environment isn't safe for him with all his severe food allergies, I am doing a little homeschool preschool work with him each day.

My little guy LOVES these flashcards! We've had a lot of doctor's appointments recently, and I've brought them along with me to entertain them each time. He has now begun a little routine of picking up the flashcards every evening and climbing up on my lap to go through a few letters one more time. :) Kate Hadfield's illustrations are as cute as can be and the words Jen Strange thoughtfully chose are perfect for early learners!

We all sat around the coffee table last night for a game of Memory with the picture cards included in the ABC Beginners Flashcards set. My little guy, at 3 1/2 and at the end of a busy day, didn't have quite the self control to wait his turn or only flip over 2 cards at a time, but my girls had such a fun time! (Face painting and colored hair courtesy of their school's Fall Festival. Tossed couch pillows and quilts courtesy of the little guy.)

I didn't get any photos, but my 7yo especially enjoys arranging an ABC line with the upper case letter cards and watching over my 5yo and 3yo matching up the lower case cards.

As Jen Strange said, "This isn't just a set of flashcards with super cute pictures. This is a carefully designed step by step process for parents who want to teach their children the basics of reading. (A process which happens to USE super cute pictures.) There are six months of literacy research behind these cards, as well as months spent tutoring children who struggle with early reading skills. Simple but systematic instructions are included, so you'll know the exact sequence of skills to focus on, and how."

I had fully intended to mount every one of these on colored card stock before playing with them, and I still might, but they were so cute once I got them printed we started using them right away! One extra benefit to these flashcards being digital is that if a card or two goes missing (as one of the umbrella picture cards temporarily did last night) you can just print a new one! I think for playing Memory especially, a heavier weight card will make the game easier.

You can also purchase the A to Z doodled illustrations by Kate Hadfield if you want to create scrapbook layouts or your own fun games!

Would you like your own set of ABC Beginners Flashcards? Thanks to Jen & Kate I can give away one  ABC Beginners Flashcards printable set! Just post a comment below letting me know who you'd use the flashcards for by midnight ET, Friday October 14th, and I will randomly draw a winner. :) Remember to check back Saturday!

*Disclaimer: I received a set of ABC Beginners Flashcards for free, but was totally about to buy them! :)

I'd use them for Walker & Warner, my 27-month-old and 7-month-old sons. I think I'll buy the flash card size Fun Foam pack from Dollar Tree to mount them on.

Reagan, mounting them on foam flashcards would be a great idea! Is the glue made for foam sticky enough to hold the printed cards on?

I'd use them in my daughter's kindergarten classroom when I go volunteer to work with those kiddos who are having a bit of a hard time and need extra help.

Thanks for the chance :)

I don't know about foam glue...I was thinking more along the lines of Modge Podge so they'd have a durable coating.....we will have to experiment! ;-)

very cute, my 2 year old grand daughter will soon be into these. She sits with her 7yo brother to read. He already reads at a 7th grade level, and she is already loving books. Would love them as part of our grammaplay!

I would send them to my 20 month old grandson. He loves his books and is showing interest in letters and numbers. These would be very popular at his house.
