Take a look at these beautiful layouts created with my Thankful page kit!

This lovely page is created by lorig! I love how she tucked the assortment of leaves behind the main paper!

This adorable layout is by tweetykl! She created a cute little cluster by reducing the size of the leaves and put the word art to fabulous use by letting it highlight the sweet small photo.

Don't forget, Thankful and all my other products are still on sale for Digital Scrapbooking Day!
Happy Digital Scrapbooking Day!  Hope you are having a fun time! Don't miss my 30% off storewide sale!

A Hybrid Halloween!

My daughters each will have a Halloween celebration in their classes on Monday, so when the sign up list came around I decided I would get a bit creative!

For my younger daughter, I signed up for chocolate treats. We recently discovered she has developed a sensitivity to milk and so much chocolate contains dairy! I wanted to make sure she had something safe, since she has inherited my love of chocolate. :) It turns out that Oreos are dairy-free, and she can eat them without troubles! I scooped up a couple boxes of the Oreo snack packs as the treat, but they don't look very Halloween-y, so they needed a costume change!

Just as I was debating what I should use to create a cute candy bar-type wrapper, I came upon a cute little free gift from Shabby Miss Jenn on her Facebook page!

Here are the dressed and ready for a Halloween party Oreo pack! Aren't they cute?

For my older daughter's class I signed up to make the BINGO cards. I found this handy BINGO card generator website, modified the word list a bit, dressed them up a bit, then printed them out! I added some of my I Like Candy Corns pieces to the center free space because I was told they are using candy corns as markers and thought that it would make the free space make sense to the kids. (In the festive spirit I put this pack on sale through Monday, October 31st!)

I printed the BINGO games 2 per page. Trim those closely, the mount 4 of them to a 12"x12" piece of card stock, as below. (I just used a glue stick.)

Trim again, and they are ready to go! (Be sure to print a word list or make a bag with all the words to choose from when playing!)

(p.s. I haven't stopped designing, I just had a long dry spell! I do have a few new goodies coming up! Be sure you are signed up for the Digitals newsletter for one, join in the Digitals challenges, and subscribe to my blog feed and Facebook page for the next gifts, prizes and new releases!

ABC Beginners Flashcards ~ Giveaway!

Have you seen this great new product? Kate Hadfield recently released the ABC Beginners Flashcards printable, which she developed with Jen Strange. See Jen's post for even more details. When I first saw Jen Strange post about the ABC Beginners set, I knew it would be perfect for my little guy! He's 3 1/2 now, but since a preschool environment isn't safe for him with all his severe food allergies, I am doing a little homeschool preschool work with him each day.

My little guy LOVES these flashcards! We've had a lot of doctor's appointments recently, and I've brought them along with me to entertain them each time. He has now begun a little routine of picking up the flashcards every evening and climbing up on my lap to go through a few letters one more time. :) Kate Hadfield's illustrations are as cute as can be and the words Jen Strange thoughtfully chose are perfect for early learners!

We all sat around the coffee table last night for a game of Memory with the picture cards included in the ABC Beginners Flashcards set. My little guy, at 3 1/2 and at the end of a busy day, didn't have quite the self control to wait his turn or only flip over 2 cards at a time, but my girls had such a fun time! (Face painting and colored hair courtesy of their school's Fall Festival. Tossed couch pillows and quilts courtesy of the little guy.)

I didn't get any photos, but my 7yo especially enjoys arranging an ABC line with the upper case letter cards and watching over my 5yo and 3yo matching up the lower case cards.

As Jen Strange said, "This isn't just a set of flashcards with super cute pictures. This is a carefully designed step by step process for parents who want to teach their children the basics of reading. (A process which happens to USE super cute pictures.) There are six months of literacy research behind these cards, as well as months spent tutoring children who struggle with early reading skills. Simple but systematic instructions are included, so you'll know the exact sequence of skills to focus on, and how."

I had fully intended to mount every one of these on colored card stock before playing with them, and I still might, but they were so cute once I got them printed we started using them right away! One extra benefit to these flashcards being digital is that if a card or two goes missing (as one of the umbrella picture cards temporarily did last night) you can just print a new one! I think for playing Memory especially, a heavier weight card will make the game easier.

You can also purchase the A to Z doodled illustrations by Kate Hadfield if you want to create scrapbook layouts or your own fun games!

Would you like your own set of ABC Beginners Flashcards? Thanks to Jen & Kate I can give away one  ABC Beginners Flashcards printable set! Just post a comment below letting me know who you'd use the flashcards for by midnight ET, Friday October 14th, and I will randomly draw a winner. :) Remember to check back Saturday!

*Disclaimer: I received a set of ABC Beginners Flashcards for free, but was totally about to buy them! :)

This giveaway is now closed!

The end-of-the school year is upon us! Less than one week of school left here, but yet I am sitting huddled on the couch with a jacket on, under a blanket, and with the heater on while typing this post! It sure doesn't feel like May!

I usually make my daughters' teachers a special end-of-year gift, so I went back to some of my old posts for inspiration, and thought you might find some ideas too! (There are gifts for you as well!)

Two years ago, with my help, my oldest daughter painted 2 terracotta flower pots and I designed some big paper flowers using the papers in my Spring Song Kit

The flowers and are all attached to pencils simply by sliding the pencils through slits you cut! The centers of the flowers are embellished with traditional paper scrapbooking supplies - little flowers and buttons that I attached with glue dots - to cover up how I attached the pencil! I filled the pots with dried pinto beans, but you could use pebbles or marbles too! They just keep the pencil flowers standing upright.  (2 years later the preschool teachers still have these in the room! They keep them up on their desks and also keep pens in them, so they always have one handy. :)

And a closer look.... The little blue rectangle in the back holds a gift card and is attached to the pencil/stem with a ribbon and clip.

She also handed out these little "calling cards" so that we could be sure to meet up with her school friends this summer.

If you'd like to make some little calling cards for your own little cutie, here is my file as a png quickpage-type file.

Sorry, no preview, but it's just the above card repeated 6 times with an empty photo space and no writing on an 8.5"x11" page for easy printing. :) They would make handy thank you notes too!

One of my good old standby gifts is clipboards! I've already given it to all these teachers, so I have to think of something else for the end of the year gift though! Here's one of mine, made with all traditional scrapbooking supplies and Mod Podge.

Another great option for making your hybrid teacher gifts is my school-themed Kids At Play kit !

For teacher gifts, I made a few little notepads and decorated a small paint can using pieces from my Kids At Play products. The little smiley face one is made like a matchbook album. The picture isn't the best, but you can get the idea. To give the gift, we put all the little notepads inside the can. :)

Last but not least, I don't want you to forget about my birthday/Digitals anniversary sale! Now through the end of the day Friday, May 20th, enjoy 35% off nearly every item in my Digitals store!

So, tell me your favorite ideas for teacher's gifts! What are making or buying for the special teachers in your life as the school year ends?
